Herbs
Herbal medicine has been helping people stay healthy for thousands of years and was often how illness was treated before drugs were created. Herbs function much like the drugs we are familiar with today; in fact, many of today's drugs are derived from herbs. Aspirin for example is made from Willow bark. Herbal medicine can treat acute illnesses, such as colds and flus; can tonify a system, like the cardiovascular system; and can help manage a chronic illness, giving you a better quality of life.
Herbal medicine is like food for your body, containing nutrients needed to help keep
a body healthy. The basic make-up of a plant determines how it will act in your body,
e.g. to help decrease blood pressure, or help digestion, or support the immune system.
Herbal medicine can be very effective in addressing both broad health goals and treating
specific symptoms. Herbal medicine aims to correct imbalances, resolve patterns of
dysfunction, and treat the underlying cause of your health concern. Herbal medicine is
another treatment modality to be used in conjunction with diet and nutrition to complete
your health plan and help your body restore itself to wholeness.
